Goodbye Kitchen

Top units came of easily...the bottom were a little bit harder!

It looks lighter in there already with the white bits that were behind the units.

Piles of tiles.

Paul working hard.

This bit is still there - next Saturday's project.

Looking lovely in goggles.

It went fairly well, but we still have not been able to work out how to turn the water on! So we didn't want to take the sink out yet until we work out if the supply to the kitchen is cut off. Sometimes I feel that we are doing really well other times I feel that we are totally out of our depth. I know we will be fine though.

Paul had fun with a new electric screwdriver. Well, he did once I rescued him and put it together properly. Instructions are just a bit of paper that gets in the way!

Demolition is fun!

And hard work!

Paul began.

I had a quick go (I did more later but I am not very strong at all!!!)

Going...

Going...

Gone!!!
Paul lifts the final brick after two hours hard work :o)

This is what it looks like now!

One large pile of bricks.

Two buckets of rubble.

14 bags of more rubble and dust.

Tomorrow, the Kitchen!

Day 1 of rennovations!

I have been a little bit superstitious about the whole house buying thing so I have not let myself buy anything for the new place until it is ours. Which it now is so we are off to buy some things that we need from the DIY store and look at new cookers and make our mind up about the carpets and lino.

Walking around the house yesterday it all seemed so daunting so we have agreed the best way to stay calm is to tackle one thing at a time. So today is attempting to get rid of the brick monstrosity in the front room and tomorrow we will start to remove the kitchen.

Hopefully I will take some more pictures later for you all.

Wow

We own a house :o)

T minus 5 days

5 days. That is all we have to wait until the house is ours! We are excited and getting a bit stressed about it all now!!! It is all good though. We should complete on Friday so Saturday we will get in and start getting rid of the kitchen and the brick beast in the front room. We have quite a bit to accomplish but we have six weeks to get it done before we want to move in.

I did have some more pictures of upstairs but they don't really show a lot so I will take some more next week.

Got to go!

This wonderful brick monstrosity is the first thing we are going to get out!

Hallway and front room.

The lovely green hallway.

The equally green front room!

The adventure begins

Paul and I found this house just before Christmas and decided to make an offer to buy it, which was accepted. Now, only just over a month later it seems that it will be ours in a couple of weeks. Our first home!

We are setting up this blog so that friends and family alike can see what is going on and how things are progressing. We hope to have the work that needs doing done, and to have moved in by 15th April. Fingers crossed.

So to start us off here are the pictures of it from the estate agent's details.
